Since she'd left New York, Margot
had been hosted across Europe --

MONTAGE – EUROPEAN PARTY CIRCUIT

A Viennese palace ball. An orchestra begins a waltz.
MARGOT declines a dance and takes a pastry instead.

A royal receiving line. Curtsies and polite boredom –
until Margot approaches, stubbing out a cigarette.

A raucous party at a Lake Como villa. Margot watches
from the terrace, finishes her wine, and returns
inside.

CUT TO:

INT. BRASSERIE - DAY

MARGOT sets out a board of soft cheeses. Uncorks a bottle of chilled wine. Drops a handful of ranunculus stems into a drinking glass.

NARRATOR (CONT'D.)
-- now that she was in Paris, she'd
decided to host her own gathering.
