INT. BRASSERIE – MORNING
Steam hisses. Cups clink.
MARGOT enters. The BARISTA sets an espresso on the counter.
She reaches the front. Stops. Notices her drink has been prepared already.
MARGOT
And... a croissant.
The barista pauses in surprise. Pulls a croissant from the case. Tucks napkins into the paper bag.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
Today was bound to be different.

MARGOT faces outward. Her second glass poured. Salad just arrived.
She catalogs:

- city guides
- a MAN reading Le Favori
The man catches Margot looking his way. Margot raises her wine in the smallest of gestures.
MARGOT
I love that one.
The man nods and lifts his coffee in return.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
Margot wondered if there were more like that.

INT. BRASSERIE – EVENING
A notebook is open on top of the bar. Arrows. Scribbles. MARGOT keeps writing.
A MARTINI arrives. A MARTINI arrives. Then steak tartare. Margot puts the pen down.
INT. BRASSERIE – LATER
MARGOT pushes the empty glass away. She pulls out her lipstick to reapply, blotting it on the cocktail napkin. She places the napkin back on the bar.
MARGOT
À demain, Pierre.
The BARTENDER takes the glass. Considers the napkin.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
For the first time, Margot may have meant it.
